Outburst on the 66 take their name from Wesley Willis’ iconic tale of adventure and psychosis on the Chicago public transport system. Channeling sounds and voices of the Chicago underground, Outburst on the 66 conjure ghosts of the city’s iconic local rock scene to create songs that go from joyride to hell ride and back.
Melding the eclectic and iconic, the tracks of the latest release, "Ghost Among the Living," are assembled like a collection of 45's from a legendary day of thrift store record shopping. Swirling sounds of vibrato infused guitar, Hammond B3 organ and marimba ride atop a bed of rock and roll thunder through landscapes of postpunk, surf, grunge, dub and soul. Like finding a first pressing of "Peace Sells" in the 10 cent bin, the score of the day is an awesome solo from legendary guitarist Chris Poland of Megadeth on the title track!
